Hi Ian,
The Gigtube will work with the Canon 5D Mark II in full video mode. The extension cable supplied with the kit is 6 feet long, but longer ones can be found and purchased. We have tested up to 25 feet before with no latency issues, longer than that can be used but the latency is untested. Hope this helps, any other questions please let us know!

Will the Gigtube allow me to view live video when using a Canon 5D MkII in HD movie mode? I want to use the camera on a jib/crane.

Can the Gigtube lead be extended? What is the length of the lead supplied?

Many thanks

Hi Kenneth,
The Gigtube uses the cameras Live View function to operate as a remote viewing screen. The Nikon 40D does not have Live View, so the Gigtube will only work as a remote firing trigger & review screen.

Hi Shawn,
The Gigtube does not have a shutter lock itself, you'd have to stand there and hold the button down. The other alternative is to combine the Aperture Gigtube with the Aperture Coworker (found here), have the Gigtube attached with the video cord only and use the shutter lock on the Coworker to trigger and time the camera on bulb. This type of setup is very effective for astro-photography as the camera is usually at a odd angle to see the viewfinder very well. Hope this helps, please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you!

Hi John,
The Gigtube does not have a built-in intervalometer, however a separate remote can be used with the Gigtube do achieve this (plug the separate remote into the cameras remote port instead of the remote section of the Gigtubes y-cable). We do plan on carrying a intervalometer remote through this website once we get them in (also from Aputure).

I have a Canon 5D MkII I use for astrophotography. Does the gigtube have a timer for the shutter release where I can take a specific number of photos for a given exposure lenght. For example 10 photos of 2 minutes each. Can a timer remote be used at the same time?
